The Breakfast Club @DJEnvy, @AngelaYee, @CthaGod Charlamagne Tha God 10th Anniversary: Was Birdman Interview the Greatest Moment?

Here's a look back at 10 years of The Breakfast Club with DJ Envy, Angela Yee, and Charlamagne tha God. The local morning show on WWPR-FM Power 105.1 was conceived by the station's former program director Cadillac Jack and launched on December 6, 2010. iHeartMedia recently announced a five year extension for Charlamagne.

The station was never able to establish a long running morning show before The Breakfast Club. (And not for a lack of trying.) Shows have been hosted by Star and Buc Wild (Troi Torain), Ed Lover (twice) with Monie Love and then Malikha Mallette, Big Tigger, Egypt Sherrod (now on HGTV) with comedian Donnell Rawlings from 2002 to 2010.

At the time DJ Envy (RaaShaun Casey) was hosting afternoons at the station after working mornings, afternoons, and evenings at Hot 97 in the 2000's. He was a club mix DJ mentored by DJ Clue in the mid 90's. Angela Yee began her radio career with Cipha Sounds at Sirius in 2005. Eventually she landed her own morning show on Shade 45.

Charlamagne (Lenard McKelvey) was unemployed at the time after having been let go by 100.3 The Beat WPHI in Philadelphia as morning host in 2009. His firing came a few days after an on-air interview with Beanie Sigel that including the rapper saying some disparaging remarks about Jay-Z. The South Carolina native's big break came in 2006 when he was brought in as a co-host on the syndicated The Wendy Williams Experience on 107.5 WBLS. He later revealed he worked on the show without a salary, but was given an apartment to reside in while working in New York City. Prior to that he garnered buzz within the industry (and with Wendy no doubt) after interviewing video vixen Buffie the Body in 2005 at a radio station in Columbia, SC.
