Marc Lamont Hill Named Philadelphia Magazine “Best of Philly” 2021 Media Personality

Philadelphia Magazine wrote: Cable news is best consumed as a form of punishment. One exception: Black News Tonight from Temple professor and Uncle Bobbie’s bookshop owner Marc Lamont Hill, which is premised on the idea that white media is institutionally incapable of covering the issues that matter to Black America. Hill’s skillful interviewing and intellectual chops make for compelling, insightful TV on the burgeoning Black News Channel. Given the medium, that’s no small feat.

Marc Lamont Hill's evening program "Black News Tonight" was added to the Black News Channel lineup in April as the channel network refreshed its daily programming. During his time hosting Black News Tonight, Hill has tackled many social and political issues confronting the Black community across the globe. The program also includes guests. His interview with former Georgia representative Vernon Jones on Critical Race Theory garnered a lot of interest. His viral segment with Judge Joe Brown on the recent release of Bill Cosby from prison sparked interest across social media platforms. Take a look at those below.

Marc Lamont Hill is a former professor at Morehouse College and Columbia University having earned a Ph.D. at the University of Pennsylvania. His former media stops have included being a regular contributor on FOX News with Bill O'Reilly and CNN as well as hosting duties on Our World with Black Enterprise, HuffPost Live, BET, and VH1.

Black News Tonight airs 8 p.m.

Outside of politics Hill was the only host to interview Trick Daddy following his controversial comments about Beyoncé on social media.
