Rickie Ricardo the New York Yankees announcer on Spanish language station WADO 1260 was working the game last week when he received a call after the game to locate and eventually rescue legendary announcer John Sterling. Ricardo recants the story on WFAN, the flagship station for Yankees baseball. Sterling became trapped in his car after flooding occurred in an area near Yankee Stadium from Tropical Storm Ida.

Ricardo is not only the Spanish language broadcaster for the Yankees, he announces NFL games as the Spanish language broadcaster for the Philadelphia Eagles. You can also catch him hosting sports talk on Audacy owned 101.9 FM/660 AM WFAN in New York and 94.1 FM WIP in Philadelphia on the weekends and weekday fill-in host.

Ricardo has had a storied radio career which began in Orlando and landed him very early in his career as midday host at 107.5 WBLS working along side Frankie Crocker. He helped launched “Mega 97.9” radio format in NYC and toured with singer Rick James.
