Making headlines and attracting public scrutiny is the formula that makes shows like Basketball Wives very popular among the same demo: females 25-54 that programmers of Adult urban radio look for when selling commercial time on their station to advertisers. One such recent incident involves Brittish Williams who struck a plea deal following an indictment on federal charges. She shared the day of her indictment on the show in the above clip. This nonetheless did not dissuade management at Hot 104.1 from hiring Williams at Hot 104.1 to replace The Morning Hustle on the station almost ten months ago.

Williams, 33, of St. Louis, pleaded guilty to five counts of misuse of a Social Security number, four counts of bank fraud, three counts of making false statements to the IRS and three counts of wire fraud. Sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 23. Her former employer as mentioned earlier, Audacy, Inc., reportedly knew of the indictment before hiring her to form The Home Team Morning Show with Shorty Da Prince and Andrew Caldwell in July of 2022.
U.S. Attorney Sayler A. Fleming said in a statement that the crimes “victimized taxpayers, banks, credit card companies, individuals and programs that were intended to help struggling businesses and employees during the COVID-19 pandemic.” Fleming said federal prosecutors will seek reimbursement for the victims.
