Elise Finch started as a weekend meteorologist for CBS2 New York (WCBS-TV) in 2007 in a 16-year career at the station. Ms. Finch came to CBS2 from NBC where she served as a meteorologist for the "Early Today Show," MSNBC and NBC Weather Plus. She was a weekend weather anchor at the CBS affiliate in Phoenix, Arizona. Before that, she was an anchor and reporter at the CBS and FOX affiliates in Youngstown, Ohio, and the ABC affiliate in Austin, Minnesota. A cause of death has yet to be released, but CBS2 stated that Finch died at a local New York hospital on Sunday afternoon (7/16/23).
It is with profound sadness that we share news of the passing of our beloved Elise Dione Finch Henriques.
Elise has been a friend and team member at WCBS for 16 years. She first joined the team in 2007 as our weekend meteorologist and was most recently on the morning news with Mary Calvi and Chris Wragge. In September, Elise joined Cindy Hsu on the 9am newscast.
Elise was a gifted and consummate professional who took great care with her work. She was also a wonderful ambassador in the community, including her hometown of Mount Vernon.
Above all, Elise was a fiercely loving and devoted mother to her daughter Grace and wife to Graig Henriques, who is a photojournalist at WCBS.
Elise passed away at a local hospital. The cause of death has not been determined.
Elise was 51 years old.
Heartbroken today with the devastating news we lost our amazing friend and colleague Elise Finch. Her smile and positive energy always left a smile on everyone’s face. Our thoughts are with her husband Graig and daughter Grace and the entire Finch family. pic.twitter.com/tPywzVwm5d
In her remembrance, here is one of her recent features reports outside of her regular weather forecasts. We hope to update Elise Finch's passing when details become available.
