Fred Shropshire Joins NBC 10 as Weeknight News Anchor

Fred Shropshire has joined NBC10 Philadelphia (WCAU-TV) as a weekday evening anchor. Monday, June 26 was his first day on air as he replaces Jim Rosenfield who left the station for a new assignment in New York City. Shropshire is pictured with co-anchor Jacqueline London.

“We are excited to have Fred join the NBC10 family,” said Elizabeth Flores, vice president of news for NBC10 and Telemundo62. “He is a dedicated and community-minded journalist, whose knowledge and passion for storytelling will serve our audience well.”

Shropshire comes from WCNC in Charlotte, where he was a weekday evening anchor. Before working at WCNC, Shropshire was at WTVD in Raleigh, where he anchored the 4 and 5:30 p.m. newscasts. He started his career at WCTI in New Bern, North Carolina and has also worked at WXII in Winston-Salem, N.C., and at WGN in Chicago.

“As a self-proclaimed history buff, I’m looking forward to learning more about Philadelphia, one of the country’s oldest cities,” said Shropshire. “It will be fun for my family and me to explore all that the Delaware Valley has to offer.”
