Remember When Dan Le Batard Called Out Stephen A. Smith For the Gaslighting Sports Formula: Karen Hunter Discusses Not So Good Journalism
In the world of sports media, passionate debates and discussions are commonplace. Fans rely on sports commentators and analysts to provide insightful perspectives on various sporting events and topics.
However, there are instances where these debates become heated and cross the line into gaslighting. This is the formula, which in most cases is manufactured to spark debate, on shows such as ESPN's First Take and FS1's Undisputed with host Skip Bayless. Back in March on his YouTube podcast, Dan Le Batard, called out Stephen A. Smith by telling him "he hates what you two have done to sports television."
Smith responded by saying "Who the hell are you...You were a part of it too!" Le Batard, a former host on ESPN radio and on TV departed ESPN in 2021 after criticizing his bosses for laying off one of his producers. He was also critical of the network’s reluctance to allow commentary on politics. Le Batard co-hosted the popular "Highly Questionable" Show with his father affectionately known as Papi.
Below Sirius XM Urban View host Karen Hunter, a former sports writer at the New York Daily News, discusses the direction of sports media, in wake of the cancellation of Bomani Jones' show "Game Theory" on HBO and the firing of a slew of hosts on ESPN.
Stephen A. counters his friend, Dan Le Batard, regarding his comments blaming him for the downfall of sports debate. He fires back detailing his journalistic credibility and Le Batard's hypocrisy.
