Radio Big Mack Takes Over New York Mornings on 94.7 The Block
Big Mack from Wild ‘N Out and a veteran radio personality brings national media experience to New York mornings
Radio Big Mack is officially stepping into New York mornings as the new morning host of Audacy’s 94.7 The Block (WXBK-FM) from 6am-10pm Monday to Friday. He takes over the morning slot previously held by Miss Jones, marking a notable transition for one of the city’s most recognized urban radio stations.
Big Mack arrives with a résumé that spans radio, television, and behind-the-scenes leadership. Most recently, he worked as Head Writer and Producer for The Breakfast Club, helping shape the content and direction of one of the most influential nationally syndicated morning shows in the country.
Many audiences also know Big Mack from television. He’s a longtime cast member of MTV’s Wild ’N Out, appearing in nine seasons and more than 120 episodes. His consistency on the show has made him a familiar presence within the culture and a respected creative voice.
Before his work on the national stage, Big Mack spent eight years in Miami at 99 Jamz (WEDR), where he served as a morning show co-host while also holding leadership roles as Assistant Program Director and Music Director. That experience helped solidify his reputation as both an on-air personality and a strategic programmer.
Now, with his return to a daily morning microphone, Radio Big Mack brings a mix of industry knowledge, cultural awareness, and entertainment experience to 94.7 The Block, setting the stage for a new era of mornings in the New York market.
It’s also worth noting that, if you follow social media, many of the names being suggested by commenters on Instagram were never realistic long-term solutions given the current state of radio and its ability to sustain or grow listeners. A large number of those suggestions were veteran New York radio personalities whose heyday was 10 or more years ago at Hot 97. In contrast, Big Mack is younger and represents a more forward-looking option. A brand like Radio Big Mack and 94.7 The Block have the potential to make a real impact, even if it takes several years to grow and develop a loyal following.
