Dave Matthews Band saxophonist LeRoi Moore dies
LeRoi Moore, the saxophonist for popular jam-rockers the Dave Matthews Band, died Tuesday of complications from injuries he sustained in an all-terrain vehicle accident. He was 46.
Moore was born Sept. 7, 1961, in Durham, N.C.; but he was raised in Virginia. He went to James Madison University, where he studied tenor saxophone. The Grammy-winning Dave Matthews Band got its start in 1991 when Matthews — then a bartender — gave his demo to the already-accomplished Moore, who then recruited other musicians for the group.
