Radio One Will Pull the Plug On Smooth Jazz in Atlanta
Radio One/Atlanta has dismissed the remaining local air talent of its longtime smooth jazz property, 107.5 WJZZ. Program Director Dave Kosh and air talent Greg Fitzgerald have exited. Radio One will abandon the smooth jazz format for Urban AC. The station at the moment is still playing smooth jazz music. Speculation has it that Steve Harvey will headline the new format at 107.5 FM.
At the moment, Steve Harvey is the morning show over at Radio One's Grown Folks Radio 102.5. However 107.5 has a much stronger signal than 102.5. Despite that fact, Grown Folks Radio has been gaining in the ratings and the station has made a few moves recently by signing up veteran Atlanta talent like Magic Man, Carol Blackmon and Denise Dunbar. Moving that talent over to 107.5 might prove to be more profitable for Radio One.
Grown Folks Radio features Warren Ballentine and Al Sharpton talk shows in the middays, with Michael Baisden in the afternoons and "Si-Man Baby " evenings.
