1 DOLLAR FOR EVERY NEW AMERYKAH PRODUCT SOLD AT GOOD RECORDS TOMORROW WILL GO TOWARD MY BAIL MONEY.THANK YOU . (kidding)but im just sayin
Art or disorderly conduct, whatever your opinion is, Erykah Badu will be cited by the Dallas Police Department. Although the fine will be a measly $500. For Badu the video shoot was not only a form of protest, but it was a liberating experience. However at the end of the day, as the following article from the Dallas Morning News concludes, the publicity from this is "priceless".
We can't fault her for thinking outside the box. Badu has always been able to stir things up one way or the other. The inspiration for the video came from the indie group Matt and Kim who stripped nude in Time Square in NYC. Was it worth it for Badu? Will Urban AC radio (Today's R&B and Classic Soul) stations increase the airplay for "Window Seat"? Will the public responds to it through record sales?
Erykah Badu took her clothes off, but Dallas officials have decided it is the city that feels stripped of its dignity.
After consulting with city prosecutors, the Dallas Police Department has decided that it will issue a disorderly conduct citation to the Grammy-winning artist for getting naked in Dealey Plaza last month.
Initially, police said they had no complaints about the taping of the video, and had no plans to pursue any charges. But after the video went viral Monday, the subsequent brouhaha made national headlines and became the subject of talk radio and the blogosphere.
