What else did you expect from OWN - The Oprah Winfrey Network?
Now we understand that some of you were disappointed by the programming that Oprah Winfrey revealed on her new OWN-the Oprah Winfrey Network cable channel following its debut on Saturday, January 1st. Yes we know, Oprah is the MOST powerful person, let alone African American Women in media today. And yes, besides her pal Gayle King, there aren't any African Americans featured on her cable channel. But Oprah's OWN, a collaboration with the Discovery Channel, is not targeted to African Americans like TV One, BET and Centric, but to a mainstream audience.
Many blogs have picked up on the fact that a Jay-Z interview was the first program that aired after her own personal preview. But one particular blog, by Jennifer Mabry at The Root was simply disappointed by OWN-the Oprah Winfrey Network.
All we can say is 'What else did you expect?' ...reruns of Soul Train, In Living Color or Martin.
