Pandora Radio Reaches 100 Million Users and Celebrates with a New Facebook-like Design
It's not quite ready yet, but it looks like this. Also Pandora Internet radio announced it has reached 100 million listeners. The news release on Pandora's blog says, 36 million of those consumers are "monthly active users." It also said that in the past six months, Pandora has upped its market share of all radio listening from 2.3% to 3.6%.
How did they figure out the share is anyone's guess... but that's pretty impressive. So what they're saying is: Pandora Radio is close to being a top 10 station in most cities in the country.
However Pandora is not expected to turn a profit until at least 2012 because with more listeners the more music royalties they have to pay per song. They hope to generate revenue through monthly subscriptions and advertising dollars to offset this increasing cost.
