What is the Best Song this Summer and What does it take to make it?
The NPR radio program Planet Money takes a look at the secret battle that's been going on for more than a year to create the song of the summer. It takes a lot of money, but even that does not guarantee success...
Planet Money takes Rihanna's "Man Down" as a case study that began in the spring of 2010, when Rihanna's label flew in songwriters and producers from around the company for a "writing camp." (They wrote the song in about 12 minutes)
We can safely say the best song this summer is not Rihanna's "Man Down" despite the heavy rotation it received earlier this summer on Urban/Rhythmic stations like Hot 97. Beyonce's "Run the World (Girls)" is not either. Planet Money picks Adele's "Rolling in the Deep." Our choices are from DJ Khaled, Chris Brown, or Kelly Rowland.
What's your choice?
