Heavy D is Dead at Age 44
TMZ- Rap legend Heavy D, one of the most influential rappers of the '90s, died earlier today.
Heavy D, whose real name is Dwight Arrington Myers, was rushed to an L.A. hospital around noon today and was pronounced dead at the hospital at 1 PM. He was 44 years old.
TMZ reports a 911 call was placed from Heavy D's Beverly Hills home around 11:25 AM to report an unconscious male on the walkway. When help arrived, TMZ was told Heavy D was conscious, speaking, and was transported to a nearby hospital.
He died a short time later. Cops are investigating the death and so far, there are no obvious signs of foul play. Police are currently at the home. Photos of Heavy D's home at TMZ.com.

The Mt. Vernon, NY native led the rap group "Heavy D and the Boyz" before gaining success as a solo artist, producer, and actor.
Heavy D recently talked to Tim Westwood on BBC Radio 1Xtra in the UK about the birth of hip hop, the tragic passing of Troy, performing at the BET awards, working with Jay-Z, producing, touring the UK, Teddy Riley & Pete Rock. Ironically, this video was posted to YouTube just a day ago.
