Spike Lee and John Turturro Chat Up 'Red Hook Summer' on WNYC [AUDIO]
The "Mookie" character from 'Do the Right Thing' returns in Lee's latest film 'Red Hook Summer'
Spike Lee on Mike Tyson's acting career: "All You Have to Do Is Put Makeup on the Face Tattoo"
Actor John Turturro had a fantastic chat with friend and director Spike Lee as guest host of WNYC’s The Leonard Lopate Show. Guest host Turturro invited Lee to join him on the city’s arts and culture radio program, where they discussed: The best coffee shop in New York City (psst, Lee says it’s Viand on Madison and 61st Street!); What happened to Mookie since the end of Do the Right Thing; Mike Tyson’s future acting career; ... and much more.
Spike Lee also talks about his career as a filmmaker, and working with guest host John Turturro in the films “Do the Right Thing,” and “Jungle Fever,” among others. And he’ll talk about his new film “Red Hook Summer,” the latest in Spike Lee’s chronicles of Brooklyn. It’s about a young boy who spends the summer with his deeply religious grandfather in the housing projects of Red Hook. "Red Hook Summer" opens August 10 at Landmark Sunshine, AMC Empire, AMC Magic Johnson Harlem, and BAM Rose Cinemas in the tri-state area. The film will be released in other parts of the northeast United States on August 24th. (Source)
