Radio One Drops Sports for Cincinnati's new Old School 100.3

"Old School" Branding Proving to Be Ratings Winner in Other Markets

Is there room for a FM sports talk station in Cincinnati? Apparently not. Radio One has pulled the plug on Cincinnati’s first FM sports talk station, “FM 100.3 The Fan” (WCFN-FM), after only seven months. The station's ratings were horrible while it was n the air. They were only able to manage a 0.1 share. Rhythmic Oldies “Mojo 100.3” (WMOJ) was dropped and flipped to Sports talk last January.

Instead of a return to the Jammin' Oldies Mojo 100.3 imaging, Radio One is set to bring back music from the 70s, 80s and 90 as “Old School 100.3”, a name that they also use at its Philadelphia station. The Tom Joyner Morning Show, which use to air on the old “Mojo” will return to the station from its AM sister station Urban Talk 1230 WDBZ.

Urban sister station 101.1 WIZ states on their website: "Welcome to the all new Old School 100.3 playing all your back in the day jams from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s and home of the Tom Joyner morning show. Cincinnati you are going to love all of this great music from artist like Luther Vandross, Anita Baker, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson, Rick James, Whitney Houston and so  much more."
