Were you Offended by 'SNL' Writer Leslie Jones Slave Sketch? #BlackTwitter
"I mean, look at me – I'm a mandingo!"says Saturday Night Live writer Leslie Jones during a sketch on SNL.
Were you offended? Did it make you uncomfortable? Was it too edgy? Too painful? Underlining everything, did Leslie Jones hit on too many truths on America's standard of Black beauty for Black women in front of a white audience? Would anyone have even cared or noticed if she said those things on a show like BET's Comic View?
The skit about slavery, breeding, and Black beauty in wake of actress Lupita Nyong’o being named the most beautiful woman of 2014 by People Magazine, outraged many of the show's black viewers. NPR television critic Eric Deggans talks with host Michel Martin about the joke and the backlash on the program 'Tell Me More'.

Not being rape by white man. What part of this joke that wasn't true? I would have been used for breeding straight up. That's my reality.
