FROM TMO.com -- Three years after switching its focus to a young Latino audience, Tampa radio station WTMP, 1150 AM, is returning to its previous urban contemporary format.
West Coast Media announced Tuesday it purchased the station from Davidson Media Group and will go back to catering its programming to the audience it had served for 57 years.
“We’ve been gone for way too long,” station general manager Lawrence Hires said in a news release. “This community needs its voice back, and AM 1150 WTMP is that voice.”
The change means the return of the “Tom Joyner Morning Show,” as well as shows hosted by the Rev. Al Sharpton, James Fortune and D.L. Hughley.
