New York's new Radio 103.9 Features Tom Joyner and D.L. Hughley

New York's NEW HOME for R&B is Radio 103.9. The station will begin broadcasting on Friday July 4th at 1:03 p.m.

The station's launch party at Sylvia's, the World Famous Soul Food Restaurant in Harlem included the entire station line-up on Wednesday night (June 25).

The Tom Joyner Morning Show will re-enter the New York City morning airwaves and the D.L. Hughley Show will run in the afternoon drive time slot. Radio 103.9 represents not only a return for Tom Joyner but for D.L. Hughley and his co-hosts Steve Wilson and Jasmine Sanders. Hughley along with Wilson hosted mornings on 98.7 Kiss FM. Sanders is a former host on WBLS. Middays will feature market newcomer La Loca and nights will be hosted by major market radio personality Marc Clarke.

Check out more info on the hosts below:

Radio 103.9 will now become the second urban adult contemporary station in New York City since the demise of 98.7 Kiss FM in April of 2012. At the time some of the hosts from Kiss FM merged into the air staff at 107.5 WBLS. Shaila and Lenny Green transitioned over to 'BLS while the syndicated Tom Joyner and Michael Baisden shows were cut. As a result of this Urban AC radio shakeup in NYC, WBLS has garnered higher ratings as the only Adult Black station in town and now sits at the #3 rated station. Cumulus Media, the owners of Radio 103.9 are hoping for a piece of the ratings pie in New York City. The new station comes about as a result of Cumulus Media changing the format of mainstream AC station WFAS-FM in suburban Bronxville and the relocation of its broadcasting tower to the Big Apple in the Bronx.

Marc Clarke most recently work as host of The Hang Suite on 96.3 WHUR and Sirius/XM Channel 141 and was the long time host of The Big Phat Morning Show on Baltimore's 92Q WERQ.

Sharon “La Loca” Montero has worked with MTV, BET and quite a few top CHR and Hip Hop stations in the south; WFLZ, 93.3; WBTP, 95.7 THE BEAT; WJHM, 102 Jamz and WPYO Power 95.3 in Orlando FL.
