Interactive One Taps Cultural Critic Jamilah Lemieux, as Vice President of News and Men's Programming for Interactive One

Lemieux to Spearhead Online Editorial Development of NewsOne and TheUrbanDaily

-- Interactive One, the definitive digital destination for African American and Millennial audiences, today announced the hiring of Jamilah Lemieux, as the new Vice President of News and Men's Programming, effective August 25, 2016. The former Ebony Senior Editor, both print and digital, is an award-winning writer and popular public speaker on race and culture. Well known for her commanding social media presence, Lemieux is considered a leading millennial intellectual and pop culture critic. Lemieux joins iOne during a time of accelerating growth, as the company expands to reach a broader millennial audience, while continuing to super-serve its core African American base.

Jamilah is tasked with expanding our news lens and developing complementary video series anchored by powerful investigations, reports and stories about Black America. At TheUrbanDaily, she will enact a fresh approach to men's lifestyle coverage and redefine the aesthetic of the site and brand.

"Jamilah's passion, knowledge and expertise on issues surrounding social justice, race relations, and pop culture make her a perfect addition to the Interactive One family," said Kierna Mayo, Interactive One SVP of Content and Brands. "Additionally, her unique ability to spark elevated conversation is a lynchpin of iOne's future content strategy."

"This is such an important time for Black America– there are so many critical issues to understand, unpack and tackle. At the same time, we are the focus of the world and our talents touch every corner of the globe. I want to celebrate that. On this leg of my career I'm looking forward to embarking on a meaningful journey with a dynamic group of creatives who share my passion for telling Black stories and affirming our lives."
