Power 99 Peace on the Street Jams

Power 99 FM, Philadelphia’s Hip Hop and R&B radio station, has announced the final date for its annual Peace on the Street Jams Presented by Kicks USA and Community College of Philadelphia, a series of antiviolence live events and activities designed to promote peace and provide communities with the necessary resources to prevent violence. The event will include live music, spoken word and a performance by Power 99’s own dance group The Power Squad.

Power 99’s final Peace on the Street event will be hosted by The Dell Music Center on Thursday, September 1 from 6 – 8 p.m. in Philadelphia, and will feature artists DJ Luke Nasty, Dae Dae, and DJ Diamond Kuts and Friends.

“There’s never been a better time to promote the message of Peace on our Streets than now. Power 99 helps give voice to those who are working hard to end the cycle of violence impacting our communities,” said Loraine Ballard Morrill, Director of News and Community Affairs for iHeartMedia Philadelphia. “Power 99 is working closely with community based organizations to help make our neighborhoods safer.”

Power 99’s final Peace on the Street event will feature DJ Luke Nasty, a 25 year old North Carolina native that has cleverly used two uniquely sampled records to ignite his career. His first single, ‘Might Be’, driven by a sample from Xscape’s #1 single, “Who Can I Run To”, spent 4 weeks atop the Billboard Rap Singles; while his current single, ‘OTW (On The Way)’, borrows from Tony, Toni, Tone’s, chart topper ‘Whatever You Want’.

Dae Dae hails from Atlanta, GA and is a product of its Boulevard Fourth Ward area. His debut single, ‘Wat U Mean (Aye Aye Aye)’ has skyrocketed up the Mediabase Urban charts, and is currently a Top 5 record that very well could be on its way to the #1 spot. His current mixtape, ‘4 Reasons’, is available online via iTunes.

DJ Diamond Kuts is one of the most in demand DJ’s in the country and is a popular Power 99 on-air personality. Her daily mix shows are among the highest rated on the station, and Diamond will bring both local and national surprise guests to perform during her set. In addition, Power 99 on-air personality and mixer DJ RL will spin the music for the afternoon.

Admission to Peace on the Street is free. To learn more about Power 99 FM’S Peace on the Street, visit www.power99.com and follow the station on twitter @Power99Philly. Fans can listen to Power 99 FM, via the station's website Power 99.com, as well as on iHeartRadio.com and the iHeartRadio mobile app, iHeartMedia’s all-in-one music streaming and digital radio service.

Peace on the Street is just one example of Power 99’s dedication to the Philadelphia community. In 2015, Power 99 became the first radio station in the nation to receive six National Association of Broadcasters Crystal Radio Awards - one of the industry’s highest honors for community service.
