Steve Harvey Issues Statement on Trump Visit, D.L. Hughley Blasts Trump and Black Celebrities

Steve Harvey's meeting with president elect Donald Trump has received hard hitting criticism, but the harshest backlash has come from his fellow Kings of Comedy partner D.L. Hughley.

Hughley posted a video [see below] to voice his displeasure with the President Elect. He also went to Twitter to blast Black celebrities who have met with Trump and used a quote from a landmark Malcolm X speech from the 1960's. A few weeks earlier Trump met with All-time football legend Jim Brown and Hall of Fame linebacker Ray Lewis. Trump also participated in a 5 minute photo-op with Kanye West.

“It amazes me that to convince Black people that Donald Trump cares about them, he takes pictures with celebrities,” he said. “If Donald Trump cared about Black people, he would not have denigrated the President with those claims of ‘birtherism.’ He would not have stoked fears and racist fears, saying that this man is less than, or not one of us to become President.”

Harvey, who endorsed Clinton for president last year, spoke to the media about the visit last Friday saying he connected with both Trump and newly nominated Head of Urban Development Ben Carson. Expect more commentary from both Harvey and Hughley on their syndicated radio shows this week.
