Lil Nas X "Old Town Road" Number One on Spotify Pulled from Country Charts
Update Country legend Billy Ray Cyrus joined Lil Nas X on the Remix of Old Town Road and it instantly became the number one trending video on YouTube. Will Smith went to Instagram and asked to be a part of a yet to be determined video shoot. LeBron James also tweeted his approval on Twitter. However despite it's popularity, the song is off the Billboard Hot Country Chart.

Last week during halftime of an Atlanta Hawks basketball game announcer Ryan Cameron (also afternoon host at Majic 97.5/107.5) introduced the crowd to "Old Town Road" a hybrid country Hip Hop song that has gone viral. The artist, 19 year old Montero Lamar Hill, known as Lil Nas X has the hottest song on Spotify. The controversy began when Billboard pulled the song from its Hot Country Charts. However the popularity of the song suggests that it should also get some attention on the Urban/Hip Hop airplay charts. Which it hasn't. The song has 20 mil views on YouTube and 1.7 mil streams on Spotify.
The popularity of the song even reached the locker room of the Texas Tech men's basketball team during their celebration for reaching The Final Four.

Hot 97's Ebro in the Morning also weighed in the controversy.
But for what it's worth the song sort of sounds like this one...
