Radio One Makes Major Announcement About 105.9 Kiss FM in Detroit
Urban One, Inc. today announced it has signed a definitive agreement to sell its Detroit, Michigan radio station, WDMK-FM and three translators W228CJ, W252BX, and W260CB for $13.5 million to Beasley Broadcast Group, Inc. Urban One has had a presence in the Detroit market since 1998.

Last year Urban One sold WPZR-FM (102.7 FM), to Educational Media Foundation which became a Christian Pop Music station. As a result of that sale, Radio One launched The Detroit Praise Network and moved the Inspirational programming to the three translators that many Detroit area Gospel Music listeners were dissatisfied with due to the static filled FM signals. Now Urban One/Radio One has effectively moved out of Detroit radio market with their announcement today. We would expect afternoon host John Mason and weekend host Mildred Gaddis to continue with their shows on WDMK.
105.9 Kiss FM WDMK now joins the Beasley Detroit cluster of stations that includes Classic Rock 94.7 WCSX, Rock 101.1 WRIF, and Classic Hip-Hop “105.1 The Bounce” WMGC.
