Nicki Minaj Receives High Praise from MC Lyte

MC Lyte keeps it real on the Nicki Minaj vs. Lil' Kim battle that seems to have gone on a little bit too long...

"Those who really need to be worried by Nicki’s record is Fergie, Gwen Stefani, Nelly Furtado...Nicki is coming out to win. She’s not thinking of the block. She’s not just thinking of the city. So she’s able to handle so many areas of what it takes right now to be an international star."

Hip Hop is not the same as it was in Lil' Kim's heyday. Face it. Hip Hop at least on the radio today is nothing more that Pop/Top 40 Music. If you're really listening to what MC Lyte is saying it's this: The female MC is dead in the streets and if you want to keep it real (make some money in the game) you better appeal to those little girls who grew up on Hannah Montana.

"I look at her as a culmination of all of the female hip-hop MCs that are and were, with her spice all on top of it," Lyte said. "She's uniquely different for this time because she's totally equipped business-wise. She understands what it is to be different in your approach. I love it. When I listen to her I feel like I'm on a voyage, you never know exactly where she's going to end up."

So Lil' Kim you're wasting your time trying to take on Nicki Minaj and her Barbies in the streets. The game is Pop, so step aside.

The following VIDEOS have more of what MC Lyte had to say in an intrview at the VH1 Divas Show and Nicki Minaj's latest "pop" song.
