Hot 107.9 Philly Announces New Morning Show Featuring Shamara and Laiya
Hot 107.9 Goes Local with Veteran Female Hosts
Radio One Urban Hip Hop station Hot 107.9 (WPHI) announced over the weekend via Twitter that their NEW morning show "Philly's Morning Show" will launched on April 1st from 6a-10a with veteran and local on air hosts Shamara and Laiya.
Shamara was a long time and popular midday host at Urban rival WUSL Power 99 FM. Shamara was also recently heard on the weekends at Hip Hop/Pop station Wired 96.5 (WRDW). She uses the popular #Hi5Friend hashtag on twitter.
Laiya St. Clair is a former morning host at WPHI (when it was known as 100.3 The Beat). Laiya has served as host on web based video programs along with doing fill-in work in her native Washington, D.C. on 95.5 WPGC.
Pairing two female morning host together in a top radio market may seem unusual however it is not unheard of. K104 Dallas features De De McGuire and Lady Jade, although recently they were joined by DJ/comedian Michael Shawn.
The "PMS" show replaces the syndicated Rickey Smiley Show, which never created the buzz in the Northeast Region city as it has in Southern U.S. markets.
