Syndicated Gospel Radio Host Darlene McCoy Launches New Platform After Racial Incident at an Atlanta Area Restaurant

A trip to a Buckhead sandwich shop left syndicated gospel radio host Darlene McCoy Jackson with a bad taste in her mouth. She says when she placed her order, the employee used a racial slur on the receipt instead of her name. What's more, she says the employee refused to apologize. The above story is from Fox5 in Atlanta.

After the incident, the well-known gospel singer as well who uses "Darlene McCoy" professionally, called upon the help of the Georgia NAACP to bring about a meeting with her and the owners of the Woody's Cheesesteaks located in Buckhead section of Atlanta. Two weeks after the incident the parties were able to meet.

Could the employee, who was identified as being Hispanic, mistakenly typed in Darlene or Darly and came up with Darky??? Watch a clip of the press conference below.

A reporter asked Darlene McCoy Jackson to explain why she set up the Instagram The Right One page @right_one2023. There are some interesting posts on the Instagram page.

The Right One page highlights good and bad businesses around the country. At times, we guess, Yelp and Google reviews are not enough and sometimes can't be trusted.

The Nightly Spirit with Darlene McCoy is syndicated by Reach Media and airs 7-11pm on Radio One's gospel stations.

Here is McCoy's account of the events that left her quite shaken by the incident.
